David Tobin, AIA, LEED AP

Partner - Civic & Higher Education Practice Leader

David’s primary expertise is in creating beauty and function in large, complex civic and higher education projects.  Prior to founding Tobin Starr + Partners, David worked on high-profile design projects for eminent international firms Skidmore Owings & Merrill in Denver, as well as Polshek Partnership and Pei Cobb Freed & Partners in New York City.

Through the U.S. Green Building Council, David has achieved LEED Accredited Professional status.  He has been certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards since 1999 and holds ongoing memberships in the American Institute of Architects, NC Chapter, as well as the Society of College and University Planners.

David has been active in the Charlotte community in a number of civic causes, including service as the board chair of the BRIDGE Jobs Program.  David also has worked with Habitat for Humanity and the Winter Shelter program.

A native of Montana, David has a B.S. in Architectural Studies from Oklahoma State University and a Masters of Architecture degree from Oklahoma State University.
